6. Distortion

When it comes to distortion, even the Schneider – Kreuznach 18-55 mm fared better than its competitors, having barrel distortion of –2.9% at 18 mm, reaching zero in the middle of the range and increasing to 0.7% at 55 mm. In the case of the new Pentax these values are even lower because at 18 mm we have –2.8%, at 35 mm – 0.02% and at 55 mm – 0.62%. Although the results are about 0.1% less than in the old version of the kit lens, you can hardly talk about improvement here. The value of 0.1% is the equivalent of our margin of error after all.
