The Canon EF 300 mm f/4L IS USM lens was launched in March 1997 as a successor of an EF 3000 mm f/4L USM lens without stabilization, introduced in December 1991.

The new lens was the third instrument with IS, a novelty which Canon started to implement in 1995, when they launched the first device of that type – an EF 75-300 mm f/4-5.6 IS USM.

Up to now the Canon EF 300 mm f/4L IS USM has been very appreciated for its high image quality, good price/possibility ratio and also small physical dimensions. How does it fare in reality, though? Courtesy of the Pstryk.pl shop we had the opportunity to check it and we share our experiences in the following chapters.

Information about our review method can be read in our article “How do we test lenses?"
