Sigma A 30 mm f/1.4 DC HSM

15 April 2013

6. Distortion

The previous Sigma model showed barrel distortion of -1,91% on a 1.6x sensor and near -2,1% on a 1.5x sensor. The new Sigma improves that performance a bit in this category. In its case, on the sensor of the Canon 50D, we got a result of -1.74%.

As you can notice glancing at the chart above, the Nikkor performs the worst here. A slight improvement of results of the Sigma still didn’t allow it to catch up with the Sony. The Pentax remains outside the reach here – as its optical construction is an optimized version of a full frame lens it can correct many off-axis aberrations better than its rivals.
