Performance against bright light was one of the main problems of the previous 11-16 mm models because, let’s face it, it was very bad. A situation when you could catch a big flare, taking almost all your frame, even if the sun was positioned far from it was especially unpleasant. The Tokina optics specialists worked on that in the 11-20 mm model and they managed to eliminate it almost completely even though you can notice some traces of the problem e.g. in the last of the photos, posted below. Its bottom right-hand corner is overly illuminated and the overall photo contrast is not the best as well even though the sun is far away from the frame.
Despite a noticeable improvement when compared to the predecessor the work against bright light remains a weak point of this lens. You can catch flares at every focal length no matter what relative aperture you employ even though it is clear there are less problems near f/2.8 than by f/8.0.
