6. Distortion

The chart below presents a comparison between distortion results of different full frame 35 mm lenses we’ve tested so far, both on the APS-C/DX and full frame.

Sigma
A 1.4/35
Mitakon
2.0/35
Nikkor
AF-S 1.4/35
Canon
2.0/35 IS

Nikkor

Tamron
SP 1.8/35
APS-C/DX
−0.59%
−0.98%
−0.96%
−0.65%
−0.87%
−0.46%
FF
−1.09%
−1.91%
−1.90%
–1.34%
−1.62%
−0.85%

It is clear the Tamron outperformed all its rivals, with a distortion level even two times lower than such constructions as e.g. the Mitakon 2/35 or the expensive Nikkor 1.4/35 G. It even managed to defeat the Sigma which used to be the best in this category. A big round of applause for the Tamron!
