9. Ghosting and flares

The Tamron’s SP 1.8/35 performance against bright light can only be called weak. It is also one big disappointment – after all we’d heard so much about a new construction and efficient coatings and then we witnessed such a complete failure in our test…The penultimate photo out of all presented below is especially painful. If you put the sun a bit outside the frame a huge flare would spoil the whole image completely. Even if you move the source of bright light further away from the corner you still catch ghosting flares, sometimes quite intensive. What a pity…
