Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 300 mm f/4.0 ED IS PRO

9. Ghosting and flares

It is the first testing category in which the Olympus gives us some reasons to complain. The situation is perhaps not so hopeless because in order to catch ghosting and flares the sun must be firmly inside the frame or very close to it; it is not the way you use a lens of the focal length being the equivalent of 600 mm. Still when you happen to have a source of bright light very close to the frame more often than not you observe distinct contrast decrease; classic flares or other light artefacts are harder to catch.
