When it comes to the performance against bright light its assessment depends strongly on aperture and position of the source of light. Working near the maximum relative aperture you don't have to worry about flares in practically any situation at all. On stopping down it's better to put the sun outside the frame in order to to avoid any troubles – when the sun is inside you can catch bright light artifacts of significant size.
