8. Vignetting

First let's check the Viltrox vignetting levels on the smaller APS-C sensor. Appropriate thumbnails you can find below.

Even at the maximum relative aperture vignetting is not especially bothersome, reaching a slight value of 22% (-0.71 EV). The problem practically disappears by f/2.0 and f/2.8 where we measured the following results: 7% (-0.22 EV) and 2% (-0.06 EV).

After passing on the bigger full frame sensor there are far more problems and photos below emphasize this fact very well.

At the maximum relative aperture the result the Viltrox reached is high, amounting to 51% (-2.04 EV). It is a value right in the middle, between 49% of the Sony FE 85 mm f/1.4 GM II and 53% of the Meike AF 85 mm f/1.4. It's true that differences are on the borderline of measuring errors but it remains an interesting phenomenon that the lens of the biggest physical dimensions has also the highest brightness loss.

By f/2.0 this aberration gets to 36% (-1.31 EV), by f/2.8 it drops to 27% (-0.92 EV), and by f/4.0 it is 23% (-0.74 EV). By f/5.6 and f/8.0 apertures it still remains visible, with results of, respectively, 17% (-0.53 EV), and 12% (-0.38 EV). All problems in this category end completely only by f/11 and f/16 apertures, where we measured, respectively, 7% (-0.21 EV), and 5% (-0.16 EV).
