Viltrox AF 25 mm f/1.7 Air
11. Summary
Pros:
- shapely, lightweight, handy casing,
- excellent resolution in the frame centre,
- good resolution on the edge of the frame,
- imperceptible longitudinal chromatic aberration,
- slight lateral chromatic aberration,
- lack of problems with distortion,
- moderate coma,
- silent and quick autofocus,
- negligible focus breathing,
- sensational price/quality and price/performance ratio,
- 5-year warranty.
Cons:
- distinct vignetting in RAW files,
- accuracy of autofocus leaves something to be desired, especially when the lens is attached to older bodies.
Once again you deal here with an instrument with an excellent price/performance and price/quality ratio, so definitely worth recommending – a round of applause, Viltrox!
The Viltrox AF 25 mm f/1.7 Air, unlike its 15 mm brother, didn't try to break resolution records and mainly for this reason we decided not to award it our 'Editor's Choice' badge but it was very close. Still during our discussion one of our editors reminded me that once we had another distinction, namely 'Good Buy', awarded to instruments with an excellent price/quality and price/performance ratio. I admit this badge fits the tested lens perfectly so we decided to get back to the tradition and here you go – congratulations!
