1. Introduction

Until now, Olympus offered two ultra wide-angle zooms in their line-up. In February 2010 they officially released the small and handy Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 9-18 mm f/4.0-5.6 ED and in May 2015 they showed the much bigger and faster Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 7-14 mm f/2.8 ED PRO.

Some users could consider the first one a tad too slow, the second one - too big and devoid of a traditional filter thread. Olympus decided to launch another instrument in this segment and in June 2021 they presented the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 8-25 mm f/4 PRO. With the new lens you get a much wider focal range – the previous models had 1:2 zoom ratio, this one features well over 1:3. As a result the new model seem to be much more versatile, still offering you a very impressive field of view, reaching even 107 degrees. A constant f/4.0 aperture and a non-rotating filter thread for traditional 72 mm filters are its other assets.

At first glance the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 8-25 mm f/4 PRO is a perfect companion to be taken on trips of any kind. With angles of view ranging from ultra wide-angle to standard one, practically you won't have to remove it from your camera body, as it will be perfect for most of landscape, architecture, and journalistic shots. I like such lenses very much so I ordered one specimen of this lens with real pleasure, very curious how it would fare in our tests. The results you can find in the following chapters – enjoy your lecture!
