Marumi is a very popular Japanese firm and very highly regarded by photographers. The company specializes in making all kinds of glass filters. It also offers a few UV filters. The WPC (Water Proof Coating) series is equipped with special coatings, which make the water disappear faster, and therefore they are easier to keep clean. This series of filters also have the Slim version thread, which reduces vignetting when using wide angle lenses.

Summary:

This is probably the most controversial filter of all. It has absolutely the best light transmission in the visible range. However, it transmits the biggest amount of UV rays at the same time. The Marumi WPC filter is perfect as a protection filter, but to call it a UV filter is simply a mistake.
