Sigma 50-150 mm f/2.8 APO EX DC OS HSM

6. Distortion

At the shortest focal length the distortion level is the highest – here we deal with barrel of –1.17%. It isn’t a level which should make you worried, though. In the middle of the focal range the distortion becomes zero and it literally stays zero because at 100 mm we got the result of 0.01%. At the maximum focal length pincushion distortion is a bit higher, amounting to 0.34% but it would be difficult to describe it as bothersome. The values lower than 0.5% are perhaps visible during the detailed measurements but in real life photos they would be difficult to notice at all.
