1. Introduction

The Fujifilm system has been developed in a bit different way than other mirrorless systems such as the Micro 4/3 or the Sony E. They’ve started with amateur lenses and that product line has been emphasized by them ever since. The Fujifilm X system has chosen another strategy – at first they launched an advanced X-Pro camera and three fixed focus lenses with the following parameters: 2/18, 1.4/35 and 2.4/60. Currently the Fuji line-up still features more expensive lenses, designed for advanced photographers, than cheap, plastic zooms, aimed solely at amateurs. There is a lot of examples of that strategy; even this year’s launches included two versions of a fast 1.2/56 “prime” along a fast 50–140 mm f/2.8 zoom lens. The latter device was sent to our editorial office not so long ago and today we can present our hands-on impressions and the results of our test – enjoy!.

We would like to thank the Fujifilm Poland company for lending us the tested lens.

You are also invited to get acquainted with our test procedure, described in the article "How do we test lenses?" If you feel it’s still not enough, please go to our FAQ section where you can find some further explanation.
