The situation concerning astigmatism, understood as an average difference between horizontal and vertical MTF50 function values, looks different though. Its value is significant, amounting to 16.8%. If you take into account only the 300-400 mm range that result increases to 23%. It’s obvious the astigmatism has a very measureable influence, limiting the resolution of this lens.

When it comes to the appearance of defocused circles of light you shouldn’t complain. The only thing you can carp about is a rim on the edge which intensity increases on stopping down.
