1. Introduction

A full frame 1.4/85 lens is one of the most classic instruments available on the market. Still such a model was not a part of the Canon line-up for a very long time. They offered 1.8/85 or 1.2/85 instead. That situation changed in August 2017 when they presented the Canon EF 85 mm f/1.4L IS USM, a lens not only featuring classic parameters but also equipped with an optical image stabilization unit.

Courtesy of the Canon Polska we were given an opportunity to test the new model in practice and our impressions you can find in the following chapters.

You are also invited to get acquainted with our test procedure, described in the article "How do we test lenses?" If you feel it’s still not enough, please go to our FAQ section where you can find some further explanation.
