Sony FE 90 mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS

9. Ghosting and flares

The task was relatively difficult in this category and small wonder: you get a front element not sheltered by any part of the casing, completely internal focusing which needs a lot of space inside the barrel. It means the number of inner apertures and ribbing is limited; add to that as many as 22 air-to-glass surfaces and you get many possibilities of inner light reflections.

Taking it all into account you shouldn't be surprised the Sony's performance can be called only moderately good in most favourite circumstances. The situation is perhaps not tragic but when you put the sun inside the frame or right outside it you can catch ghosting and flares which might destory your shot completely.
