Astigmatism, understood as an average difference between horizontal and vertical MTF50 function values, amounted to 4.6% and we consider it on a borderline between very low and low levels. In this testing category the lens performs beyond reproach.

The appearance of out-of-focus images provided by the tested Tamron is very sensible. We expected a weaker performance knowing that it is a wide-angle lens with a moderately fast aperture but now we have no serious reservations. The only thing that sticks out is a lighter rim which intensity increases on stopping down. Also the influence of mechanical vignetting makes itself felt, visible in corners of full frame even by f/5.6; still we are going to deal with effects connected to that aberration in the next chapter.
