10. Autofocus

When we attached the tested lens to the Sony A7R III its autofocus performance was noiseless and quick. Running through the whole distance range and confirming the focus took just 0.3-0.4 of a second. Mind you, this result could be even better – a slight 'focus hunting' effect near the proper position slowed it down.

During that test we also had a newer body at our disposal, the Sony A7 IV. When the Sony FE 20 mm f/1.8 G was attached to it its autofocus was also noiseless and very quick but 'focus hunting' was reduced to minimum so the focusing time, in the majority of cases, didn't exceed 0.3 of a second. Overall the tested lens should be praised for its performance on both of these bodies.

We didn't notice any distinct front or back focus tendency either.
