9. Ghosting and flares

It's not easy, to ensure good performance against bright light in a construction with such a wide angle of view, aperture fastness, and complex optical system. The results of the Sony are perhaps not very good but, taking into account the scale of the problem, you shouldn't complain too much either.

You can catch flares and they are the strongest when the sun is situated very close to the edge of the frame – then in the very corner you see a big, yellowish flare or, after a slight shift of the frame, radial, multicoloured beams of light . Fortunately images you get in these settings remain also properly contrasted.

In this category the Sony fares better than the Tokina and the Viltrox but is defeated in a duel with the Nikkor.
