1. Introduction

The last few months have brought us a lot of launches of original zoom lenses - more often than not aperture fast, and designed for full frame mirrorless systems. For example Canon showed the RF 24-105 mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z model, Sigma launched the A 28-45 mm f/1.8 DG DN along with the A 28-105 mm f/2.8 DG DN, and Sony responded with the FE 28-70 mm f/2 GM.

It wasn't the end. On 22nd April 2025 the Sony line-up was enlarged by the FE 50-150 mm f/2 GM that was touted as a lens able to replace three other fixed-focal devices. Small wonder- its parameters encompass the classic 2/50 standard and at least two others portrait lenses, also very classic. At the same time this launch was clearly the Sony answer to the launch of two 30-150 mm f/2-2.8 models made by Tamron and Samyang.

Such interesting instruments have always attracted our attention a lot and courtesy of the Polish Sony subsidiary we didn't have to wait a long time to quench our curiosity. Already on the day of the launch we managed to show sample shots produced by the new model and today we are proud to present its full test – enjoy!
