Sony FE 24 mm f/2.8 G
1. Introduction

The model with the shortest focal length lags behind the 40 mm and 50 mm instruments - we've already mentioned a bit slower aperture. It seems packing everything into the same type of barrel was a priority here so limiting the aperture to f/2.8 was the easiest solution. What's interesting, the construction of the 2.8/24 model is also the simplest, with one element less than feature other lenses of this series with longer focal lengths. We are very curious whether such an approach influenced image quality, especially on the edge of full frame. We would like to thank Sony for delivering us the final specimen of the tested lens even before its official launch – that move allowed us to test it very quickly and we really appreciate it.
You are also invited to get acquainted with our test procedure, described in the article "How do we test lenses?" If you feel it’s still not enough, please go to our FAQ section where you can find some further explanation.
