Lens review

Fujifilm Fujinon XF 80 mm f/2.8 LM OIS WR Macro

10. Autofocus

The autofocus of the tested lens is noiseless and very quick. Even if you work with full range of distances, not so narrow after all, running through it and focusing takes just 0.2–0.3 of a second, a sensational speed for a macro lens. What’s more, there are no significant differences between results achieved in different lighting conditions; the direction of movement doesn’t matter either. Of course there are also two options of the focus limiter, from 0.25 to 0.5 of a meter or from 0.5 of a meter to infinity, but in most cases you won’t need them. In that area the lens deserves to be only praised.

The accuracy should be praised as well. During shooting sessions conducted both outside and in our studio the lens didn’t cause us any problems at all, with practically no misses.

The lens didn’t have any front or back focus tendencies either, always hitting the right point.
