11. Summary
Pros:
- a solid, sealed, and, at the same time, compact barrel for these parameters,
- sensational image quality in the frame centre,
- very good image quality on the edge of the APS-C sensor,
- good image quality on the edge of full frame,
- slight longitudinal chromatic aberration,
- low lateral chromatic aberration,
- negligible spherical aberration,
- properly corrected coma,
- low astigmatism,
- slight vignetting on the APS-C sensor,
- silent, quick, and accurate autofocus,
- excellent image stabilization,
- very nice out-of-focus areas.
Cons:
- huge level of focus breathing.
As if it wasn't enough, the Sigma should be praised for a very sensible pricing. Of course almost $3300 can hardly be called low but, for the comparison's sake, the reflex camera 2/200 models presented almost 15 years earlier, were launched with a price tag of $4500 (Nikon) or even $6000 (Canon). After adjusting for inflation that amount of money would mean much higher values meanwhile Sigma offers you an excellent and optically more complex lens for very reasonable sum of money.
