In order to make our test more comprehensive we decided to show crops taken from photos of night sky taken from the right-hand upper corner of full frame. This time we show images taken by f/2.0, f/2.8, and f/4.0. As you can check on your own the star test shows a similar performance as in case of photos of a diode.

Astigmatism, understood as an average difference between horizontal and vertical MTF50 function values, amounted to just 4.6%, a value on the borderline between very low and low level. In this category the Viltrox definitely deserves to be praised.
Defocused circles of light, provided by the Viltrox 2./85, are really nice. There are no aspherical elements in its construction so there is also no onion-ring bokeh anywhere. The interiors of the circles show a very even light spread and the outer rim is not especially intensive. In this category everything is splendid.
Mechanical vignetting is a problem, though, and it was only predictable, taking into account the dimensions of the tested lens. At the maximum relative aperture its level is high and it makes itself felt even on stopping down the aperture by 2 EV – its influence is vestigial at that point but still noticeable.
