Ensuring good performance against bright light in case of such a lens as the Sony 200-600 mm is very difficult indeed as everything acts against the efforts of the constructors. You deal here with a lens that features a big front element that is positioned rather shallowly inside the barrel; this lens is also a closed construction as all optical elements move inside. This fact seriously limits the possibility of proper blackening, and positioning apertures and ribs inside. As if it wasn't difficult enough, the optical construction is complex, consisting of as many as 17 groups of elements. It means as many as 34 air-to-glass surfaces.
All these factors made themselves felt. The result is such that the performance against bright light of the Sony 200-600 mm is weak. The fact that, with such a focal length range, you rarely take photos against bright light is your only consolation.
